Best quality & safest genuine Schrader brand

Tyre valves vary in price massively, and quality as well - Fit the safest for your motorhome.

Many people call all tyre valves "Schrader valves", but much like Hoover and vacuum cleaners, Schrader is a brand name - they were the inventors of this valve. Genuine Schrader valves are regarded as the best quality available but are more expensive than the cheap rubber valves tyre fitters use for cars, which are not suitable for most motorhomes. Even the highest quality ones are only rated to 65 psi - as for the cheap Chinese ones bought in bulk by many tyre depots, I dread to think.  Motorhomes frequently run pressures of around 80psi.  It's frightening how many tyre depots will still fit them regardless!  A tyre valve that shears at speed will cause rapid tyre deflation.  There is no point spending out on expensive top quality tyres then fitting cheap poor quality valves.

Metal bolt-in valves are often regarded as the best for motorhomes, but they can have problems and are disliked by many tyre fitters - some tyre centres even refuse to use them.

  • They can come loose and leak, this is their main problem.  If you're lucky you can tighten them up from outside - but - if the whole valve turns, the only fix is to take the tyre off

  • They are reputedly vulnerable to leaking due to corrosion inside the rim - this corrosion is very common, the air in your tyres is not perfectly dry.

  • They have to be tightened to the correct torque in order to safely achieve their pressure ratings

  • Their compatibility with alloy wheels can be a problem - you have to have the right collar length for your particular alloy

  • As the collar is tightened down onto an alloy wheel, it can break the surface finish, giving an entry point for unsightly corrosion

It's always recommended to change tyre valves when tyres are changed, they do deteriorate over time.

I'm offering genuine Schrader snap-in valves, special high pressure, nickel-plated brass core ones, that are rated to 14 bar - which is 203 PSI - cold pressure. Snap-in valves are much more tolerant of the inside of the hole in the rim not being perfect, compared to metal valves - rims can corrode on the inside over time.  They cannot work loose, unlike metal valves. They are quick & easy for your local tyre place to fit, snap-in valves are what they are used to, they do not require tightening to a specific torque setting.   They will fit all alloy motorhome wheels as there is no collar.

These are 40mm in length (just over 1 1/2"), which for the vast majority of motorhomes works just fine.  There are a very small number of alloy wheels or steel wheels with trims where the valve is highly recessed - these will still fit no problem, but for ease of access you may need to fit an extender to check tyre pressures and inflate the tyres, or remove the wheel trim first.  I offer these extenders, please see my other items.

Note valves are supplied without individual packaging, sent together in a padded envelope with Royal Mail.  P&P charge is flat at £1.15 no matter how many are ordered.
