There is a well known vulnerability, which I will not describe here in detail for obvious reasons, in the cab door locks on the Fiat Ducato / Peugeot Boxer / Citroen Relay. With only a small amount of damage to the door the lock can be released from outside - this can be done almost silently - there have been a good number of reported instances online of this on the various motorhome forums. To make your van secure whilst you're inside it some people put a strap across the cab between the door handles - but this is both intrusive (especially if you've got swivel seats) and also makes it difficult to get out in an emergency. Some people fit deadlocks to the doors, but this is expensive, requires drilling holes in the doors, and again makes a rapid exit in the event of fire in particular very difficult. Our Cab Lok solves these problems - a simple idea, but all the best ones are! It's a pair of high visibility straps that each come with a seat belt buckle, so you lock your internal door handles to your seat belt buckles. Very secure but also very easy to release in an emergency, just press the seat belt release. Works especially well with swivel seats as of course once swiveled the buckle is on the door side - but it works fine with seats that do not swivel as well.
The straps are a heavy duty, 450kg rated item - that's the equivalent of a 70 stone man pulling with all his weight on it. The cam buckle is to match, we've gone for a heavy duty cast alloy buckle rather than the cheap thin pressed ones found on many of these straps - the tighter the strap is pulled, the harder the buckle grips the strap. These top quality straps are made especially for us in the UK.
We've made these each 1.7m in length (5'6") which is long enough for all coachbuilt or van conversion motorhomes, no matter if the seats swivel or not. You will receive a pair of straps for every quantity of 1 purchased.
Please make sure your van has door handles before ordering! That's not as daft as it sounds - some (but not all) of the very latest 2019 onwards Ducato / Boxers, and some Transits, have a shaped grip handle only that you cannot pass a strap around. The seatbelt buckle end will fit any van, but you have to have a suitable point on the door to pass the strap around.
Always pass the strap through from the rear of the buckle - it will then not pull out unless you press the release - if you insert it from the front then it will pull out easily.
If you have an RV or A Class motorhome and require a longer strap, we do a much longer strap as a separate listing, which you can cut to length yourself:-
