Getting in and out of the cab of a motorhome can be a struggle, we've designed this simple set to make it easier - Choose to buy an adjustable strap, a folding handle step, or both.
Firstly, the CabAssist Strap. This uses the belt anchor to give you a really secure handhold to help pull yourself up into the cab and lower yourself out safely. We've designed this with top quality materials - the strap finishes in a looped handle with a strong round grip, easy for fingers to grasp, even for those whose grip strength is not good. The round grip is very comfortable and will not cut into your fingers. Exceptionally good customer feedback - see at the bottom of this listing!
The strap is 50mm / 2" wide and ends in a strong black buckle fitting. To the end of the buckle the strap as standard is 38cm / 15" long, but it fastens with velcro and can be adjusted slightly if required. The strap is extremely strong - I am 6'2" and 20 stone, I have pulled with all my strength on this strap and it will not yield.
Concerned you won't be able to reach in to plug it into the belt buckle? You should be fine - I asked my 5'0" tall 75 year old Mum to test it, she can reach in with ease to plug it in, see the video of her trying it out on this listing. Most people will plug it in when they are getting out of the van and leave it there until after they next get in, so they won't have to reach in anyway.
The strap is as useful for a driver as it is for a passenger - although the driver has the steering wheel to hang onto, the strap gives a firm grip for your other hand to use.his is smaller, lower and lighter than most habitation door steps and folds down very small - the perfect size for use in the cab. Once you've used it to get in you can lift it in behind you with the handle and then fold it up from your seat - it can be stowed either under your feet or in the door pocket of most motorhomes, see the pictures, it's only 3" thick when folded down. When you come to get out, after unfolding it in your seat the handle means you can easily place it exactly where you need it to be outside the van - far far easier than a plastic step that you pull in behind you on a lead!
The step platform is just under 38cm / 15" wide by 26cm / 10 1/4" deep. The legs lock securely in both the up and down positions with buttons, splay out wider than the platform for stability, and make the top of the platform 17cm / 6 3/4" off the ground. The handle locks in the up position and extends to a height of 62cm / just over 24" above the platform, 79cm / 31" above the ground.
Folded down, the step is 45cm / 17 3/4" wide by just over 26cm / 10 1/4" deep by just 7.5cm / 3" tall - it folds down very flat. It is rated to carry 150kg / 23 1/2 Stone. The step itself weighs just under 2.6kg / 5lbs 10 oz.
